Carretera Austral

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carretera_Austral

Biking this 1,000-mile long gravel road through the coastal Andes is the hallmark experience we’re after during our time in South America.  We’ve committed six weeks to ride it, though we think it will only take four.  The remaining time will be spent resting, gathering supplies, repairing our bikes, and backpacking/hiking what we can as we pass by about a dozen Chilean and Argentinean National Parks.

Wow, sounds like quite a trip. My dad was born in Chile and has revisited a few times. I have never been there, but hope to see it someday. Best of times to both of you.
